What is the new cost feature?
Our PowerSteering customers voiced the need to have different people manage and edit the estimated, actual and budget cost information. For example in some companies a Project Manager might be able to create, edit and delete budget and estimated costs, but only a Financial Manager can create, edit and delete actual costs. To accomplish this PowerSteering updated the Edit Cost permission into three distinct permissions. One to edit the budget information, one to edit the estimated costs, and one to edit the actual costs.
Edit Cost Permissions
As shown in the above screen shot, the Edit Costs permission has been replaced with three new permissions:
Edit Estimated Costs: This permission allows a user to create, edit, and delete estimated costs for a project or work item.
Edit Actual Costs: This permission allows a user to create, edit, and delete actual costs for a project or work item.
Edit Budget: This permission allows a user to edit the budget information for a project or work item.
Users must have the View Costs permission as a prerequisite before being assigned any of the new permissions. The View Costs permission remains unchanged and will allow users to view, but not edit, all three cost types.
For every permission category or custom permission in PowerSteering that has the Edit Cost selected, one or more of the new cost permissions defined above must be selected.
Note: These permissions apply to any place in PowerSteering where cost information can be viewed, created, edited, or deleted including the imports.
