How do I convert an idea to a project?

Once an idea has been approved, users with the Create Root Work permission can convert it to a project. This article describes how to convert an idea to a project.

1. Click Convert to Project

  • On the idea Summary page, click Convert to Project.

2. Choose Work Type

Choose Work Type
  1. Choose Work Type from the drop-down box.
  2. Click Continue.

Note: When creating a basic project or gated project, consult with your manager or PowerSteering Administrator to determine whether you are required to use a template. A work template is a pre-built container that allows you to provide a consistent structure for users to build projects upon.

3. Enter Project Information

  1. In the Name field, type a name for your project.
  2. Type a brief description of your project in the Objective field (optional).
  3. Click the Location in Work Tree drop-down box, select a location for your project within the Work Tree.
  4. Enter or select additional information as needed.

4. Assign Users to Team Roles

  1. Click Suggestions or click in the Find field and enter one or more letters of the user's name, then click Go.
  2. From the results list, drag and drop users onto appropriate roles.
  3. Click Finish & Create!

4.1. Enter Optional Information (Optional)

  1. On Step 2, Click Continue.
  2. On Step 3, enter or select additional information as needed.
  3. Click Finish & Create!

5. View Project

  • View Summary page of newly created project.
