What agents are available in PowerSteering?

Agents in PowerSteering are either configured to do various system maintenance tasks or to send reminders based on predefined conditions and schedules. Each agent can be configured, disabled, or forced to run before the specified run interval elapses. This article describes the agents that are available in PowerSteering.

  1. On the Icon Bar click the Admin button.
  2. Click Configuration to expand the menu, then click Agents.

2. View Agents

  • View list of agents available in PowerSteering.

Admin Event Log Cleaner: Deletes admin event log entries after a specified number of days.

Alert Cleaner: Deletes alerts after a specified number of days.

Captured Error Cleaner: Deletes captured errors after a specified number of days.

Completed Work Archival Agent: See the article How does the Completed Work Archival Agent work? for information about this agent.

Delete Old Users Agent: See the article How does the Delete Old Users Agent work? for information about this agent.

Due Date Reminder: See the article How does the Due Date Reminder Agent work? for information about this agent.

Invalid Login Cleaner: Clears all unsuccessful login attempt details older than a specified date.

LDAP Synch Agent: Synchronizes the user accounts in LDAP with user accounts in PowerSteering.

Measure History Value Agent:

  • Checks the History Schedule of active formula measures. If, according to the schedule(s), it is time to do so, the agent calculates the current value of the measure and adds it to history. The History Schedule is defined when a measure template is created. See the article How do I add a new measure template? for more information. Note: The Measure History Value Agent will not evaluate measures in archived projects.
  • Checks the Reminder Schedule of active manual measures. If, according to the schedule(s), it is time to do so, the agent sends reminders to users about manually entering measure data. The Reminder Schedule is defined when a measure template is created. See the article How do I add a new measure template? for more information.
  • Sends alerts to users subscribed to the Measure Indicator Change alert if the color of the Measure indicator changes.
  • Sends alerts to users subscribed to the Formula Measure Evaluation Failure alert if a Formula Measure has an error calculating its value.

Measure Value Agent:

  • Checks the Test Schedule of active formula measures. If, according to the schedule(s), it is time to do so, the agent calculates the current value. Note: The Measure Value Agent will not evaluate measures in archived projects.
  • Sends alerts to users subscribed to the Measure Indicator Change alert if the color of the Measure indicator changes.
  • Sends alerts to users subscribed to the Formula Measure Evaluation Failure alert if a Formula Measure has an error calculating its value.

Metric Reminder Agent: Sends reminder Inbox notifications to project owners before or after a metric update is due. The Send Reminders setting on the metric template determines when reminders will be sent. See the article What does the Basic Info tab do? for more information about this setting.

Reindex Basic Search: Regularly rebuilds the basic search index. Note: Index rebuilding can be time consuming and may have a small impact on performance.

Reindex Document Content: Regularly rebuilds the document content search index. Note: Index rebuilding can be time consuming and may have a small impact on performance.

Status Change: Automatically adjusts the status of projects and/or milestones using certain criteria (dates, % complete, active phase, etc.) using two agents. Status Report Agent: See the article How does the Status Report Agent work? for information about this agent.

Time Conversion Agent: Converts approved timesheet entries to actual cost entries using applicable rates. Note: This agent processes all approved timesheet entries that have not already been converted to actual costs regardless of the time entry date.

Timesheet Reminder Agent: Sends reminder emails to users that have no time entered or have time entered that has not yet been submitted for the previous week. The Day of Week parameter determines the day of the week that reminders will be sent on. Note: Users will only receive timesheet reminder emails if they are able to enter time and have the Send alerts to this email address check box selected on their Preferences page.
