How do I lock metrics using the Financial Review?

The lock metrics function allows you to prevent users from entering data into a specific view of a metric for a specific time period. The Financial Review allows you to lock the metrics for one or more items at the same time. This article describes how to lock metrics using the Financial Review.

Note: Metric Lock is a replaceable term in PowerSteering. This term may appear differently on your PowerSteering site.

1. Click Financial Review

Click Financial Review
  • On the Icon Bar click the Review button, then click Financial Review.

2. Click Portfolio

Click Portfolio
  • Click Portfolio, select the name of the portfolio you want to display.

3. Click Layout

Click Layout
  1. Click Layout, select the name of the layout you want to display.
  2. Click Go.

4. Select Metrics to Lock

  • Select the check box(es) for the item(s) you want to lock. To select all items at once, select the All check box at the top of the page.

Note: Metric Lock is a replaceable term in PowerSteering. This term may appear differently on your PowerSteering site.

5. Set Lock Date

Set Lock Date
  1. Click the date field next to the All check box to display the calendar.
  2. Select a date for your metric lock.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Note: The metric lock date that you select will lock the metrics up to the end of the period for that specific date. For example if your metric period is monthly, and you lock the metric on July 5th, the month of July will be locked. Users will not be able to enter data in the month of July or any months prior to July. If your metric period is quarterly, and you lock the metric in the middle of February, the entire quarter (months January, February and March) will be locked along with any prior quarters.

6. View Locked Cells

  • View the cells that are now colored white as a result of locking the metric. Cells that are white indicate where the metric is locked, you can still enter data in shaded cells.

Note: Cells can be unlocked using a very similar procedure to what was described above. If you have the permission to lock metrics, you also have the ability to unlock metrics. See the article How do I unlock a metric using the Financial Review? for more information.
