How do I remove resource assignments from a work template (Spring 2015 Service Pack 2 Release Fix)?

In the Spring 2015 (v13) Service Pack 2 Release, an issue that caused all users to be displayed in Project Central with zero allocation when an individual or group was assigned to an approved role on a project template was fixed. In order to fully correct this issue, there are additional steps that need to be taken for existing templates. This article describes how to remove resource assignments from a template in order to fully incorporate the fix that was part of the Spring 2015 Service Pack 2 Release.

Note: This will only correct new projects created after you update the template. Existing projects will continue to show the approved resources at zero allocation until they are removed using Project Central.
