What are permission categories?
The Define Categories page is where you associate a collection of permissions, represented by check boxes, with one of the PowerSteering generic categories or a custom category you've created to represent your company's specific requirements. Creating permissions is a two-step process. First you need to define categories of permissions using this page, then you can use the Defaults page to match the permission categories to roles (core sets) and groups (custom sets). This article describes the purpose of permission categories.
1. Click Define Categories
2. View Permission Categories
By default, there are 7 categories that contain pre-defined yet customizable permission settings:
- None
- Guest
- View
- Edit
- Work
- Finance
- All
Administrators can also add new categories. See the article How do I add a permission category? for more information.
Note: Permission categories All and None cannot be modified: All allows any activity for a given target, while None allows none.
3. Click Defaults
4. View Permission Categories
- Once permissions have been defined for permission categories on the Define Categories page, the permission categories can then be assigned to the core and custom sets on the Defaults page.
